About this coloring page

A polder windmill stands beside a dead-straight canal with a little wooden bridge, reeds along the bank and a heron waiting in the shallows. Mills like this one did not grind grain — they pumped water out of the land, which is why the country underneath them exists at all. The lattice sails give you a natural grid to work across, and the reflection in the water is the obvious place to try a lighter version of whatever you used above it.

Printing tips

Set your printer to “fit to page” and turn off headers and footers. Ordinary 80 gsm paper is fine for pencils; use 120 gsm or heavier if you colour with markers so the ink does not bleed through.
