About this coloring page

The axolotl is a salamander that never grows up — it keeps its feathery pink gills for life and can regrow a whole limb. This one is sitting in a laboratory beaker with bubbles drifting past, which makes it a nice pairing with a science lesson about animals that regenerate. The shapes are large and rounded, so younger children can fill the body and the gill fronds without fighting the outlines. Try a pale pink body against a cool blue beaker so the gills stand out.

Printing tips

Set your printer to “fit to page” and turn off headers and footers. Ordinary 80 gsm paper is fine for pencils; use 120 gsm or heavier if you colour with markers so the ink does not bleed through.
